homebody 1, 2023,
digitally curated collage prints, found push pins, polymer clay and silver chrome spray paint.

homebody 1 is about the acknowledgement and appreciation for girlhood in the bedroom, as an artist who grew up feminine I spent a lot of my time creating in the privacy of my childhood bedroom and still do in the room Im fortunate to have today. Bedroom culture is a unique female phenomenon where  interests are highlighted or most reflected on the walls of their bedroom, or the colour of their sheets, or the collection of cds and books they keep on their nightstands. They gossip, they play loud music, they burrow underneath their dunna covers during winter, they write, they sing, they cry, they scream. The bedroom is so special and we should appreciate that space if we have the privilege to have our own. So the inspiration for these collective digital collages that are made up of my own sketches, photos and scans is my own journal pages that are filled with memories of places I have been, or items I have bought, or people I have seen. They are reflections of journey, perspective, creation and a private style of note taking that is symbolic of myself.

This was the beginning of the homebody thought.
